Choosing in-home care for a loved one is a meaningful decision. Families often reach out to us with many questions about hours, schedules, safety, and what support will truly look like in their home.
At Platinum Home Care, we believe the experience should feel clear, supportive, and personal from the very first conversation. Below, we walk you through what it’s like to work with us and how our process is designed to grow with your family’s needs.
Step 1: Reaching Out and the First Conversation
Getting started is simple.
You can call us directly at 604-728-0579, and a member of our team will take the time to answer any questions you may have. You’re welcome to call anytime. If calling isn’t convenient, you can also leave us a message through the contact form on our website, and we’ll return your call promptly.
This first conversation is about understanding your situation. There is no pressure and no obligation. We listen, provide clarity, and help you explore whether in-home care is the right fit at this time.
During this call, we can also arrange a complimentary in-home consultation.
Step 2: In-Home Complimentary Consultation
The in-home consultation is an essential part of our approach. We recommend that family members and anyone involved in the care be present during the visit. Most importantly, we want to meet the person who will be receiving care.
This allows us to understand routines, preferences, personality, and current challenges, all of which are key to providing thoughtful, respectful in-home care.
The consultation typically lasts about one hour and is designed to be a calm, collaborative conversation. Families are encouraged to ask questions about what home care can look like in their specific situation.
Care Hours and Scheduling Guidance
During the visit, we offer recommendations around care hours and scheduling based on real needs, not assumptions.
Many families initially believe they require more hours than are truly necessary. Our minimum care usually starts at three hours once per week, or two visits per week for two hours per visit. From there, care can be adjusted and expanded as needed, including more frequent visits or extended hours.
Our goal is to help families find the right level of support, one that is realistic, flexible, and supportive.
Safety Recommendations Around the Home
A key part of the in-home consultation is assessing the home environment.
We take time to walk through the space and provide professional safety recommendations aimed at supporting both the person receiving care and our caregivers. These recommendations are practical and preventative, focusing on reducing risks, improving accessibility, and creating a safer daily environment.
This may include guidance related to mobility, layout, equipment, or simple adjustments that can make a meaningful difference in everyday safety and comfort.
Additional Guidance and Resources
The consultation is never a sales visit. Our role is to support families.
We often help families understand additional services or resources that may be available, including programs and supports offered through Fraser Health. We also answer questions and provide guidance to help families feel confident in the plan moving forward.
Step 3: Meeting Your Caregiver and Beginning Care
Once the consultation is complete, families receive a secure intake form where important personal and medical information is collected. Privacy is extremely important to us, and all information is handled with care and confidentiality.
After the agreement is finalized, care begins at the scheduled times, and this is the day you meet the caregiver we’ve selected for your family. We guarantee caregiver consistency. You will have the same care aide supporting your loved one every visit, allowing trust, comfort, and familiarity to build over time. This is a core promise of Platinum Home Care.
From the first visit, care is designed to feel familiar, respectful, and supportive.
Ongoing Support and Care That Grows With You
Starting care is not the end of the process. It’s the beginning of a relationship.
We remain closely involved and attentive. As needs change, we can reassess and adjust care hours, typically reviewing schedules and support every two weeks if needed. This flexibility allows care to grow alongside the client’s evolving needs.
Families can always count on our team for ongoing communication, guidance, and ideas to improve the care experience. We don’t simply set a plan and walk away. We stay connected, involved, and responsive.
More Than a Service. A Long-Term Partnership
Every family’s journey is different. That’s why our approach to in-home care is thoughtful, flexible, and relationship-based.
From the first phone call to ongoing care adjustments, our goal is to support families with clarity, consistency, and peace of mind, today and as needs evolve.
