Have you recently been through an injury or illness and feeling home-bound? It can get pretty depressing looking at the same four walls and trying to fill the time. Sometimes just a few days, a few weeks, or sometimes a few months. It is important to have things to look forward to and be held accountable for in your recovery process. You may be surprised by what services you can hire to your home that make daily life a little brighter.
We are living in an amazon delivery world now! Packages at your doorstep, groceries to your fridge and meal prep at any stage. These things can make life easier when you are home bound. Many Vancouver area restaurants, bakeries and sweet shops deliver. My favourite is a smoothie service called Revive. This has helped clients from digestive issues to chemotherapy and many things in between. But what about services? If you are so inclined, you can have your hair and nails done in home. Some advertise as travelling aestheticians, but you should also feel comfortable to ask your regular service provider. They may be willing to. Massage and physio are an important part of recovery and you can absolutely book in home. A company called Your Home Physio and Pilates has a great reputation in Delta and there are several in the Vancouver area. Personal coaches and smaller gyms will send someone for stretching and safe exercise. Clothes shopping? I have had local shops happy to drop by with a variety of clothes in a client’s size to personally shop for some seasonal items. It has been much more successful than online shopping. Entertainment is important too. The library has a wonderful delivery system in place with all the books and movies you can watch. There are several garden centres that will drop off and install flowers, trees, and plants. Whether you have a balcony or yard, think about including nature as part of your daily view. Do not underestimate the power of an animal. Pet therapy dogs can pop by and give you a huge emotional boost. Hire an art instructor for the afternoon to paint or a wine expert to share the new local tastes. The world is at your fingertips! My advice would be that if you cannot find what you want delivered, just ask. Many people are willing to accommodate home visits, not just as a favour, but because they enjoy changing their routine also. And if you need someone to play a game of cribbage or scrabble with, give me a call! I am always happy to play a game! Let me know if I didn’t mention something you were wondering about and I can research it. Send me a message of services that you had in house that would be interesting to list. We can encourage each other through these times.
